The Suffragettes

The Suffragettes is a production/dj team that consists of four young
Japanese guys; So Inagawa, Sackrai, Yone-Ko and Kesu based in Nagoya
and Tokyo. As teenagers in early 1990's, they were inspired by bands
like The Jesus and Mary chain, Suicide, Depeche Mode, Fishmans, The Smiths
and Throbbing Gristle as well as early days' techno music like Richie
Hawtin, Daniel Bell, Fumiya Tanaka, DJ Hell and Detroit techno. In those
days, when everyone was discovering techno music in Japan, they were
introduced to raves and clubs naturally. As soon as the four of them
found instruments, they began making their own music in their bedrooms,
and fell in love with mixing different tracks. In 1998 So Inagawa and
Sackrai met at the seminar on "Suffragist & Suffragette",
and soon after they started an electronic noise band.
The two later met Yone-Ko and Kesu while attending one of Japan's first big raves. As they all had a "passion for music" in common they hit it off with each other right away. In 2000 they decided to visit Berlin, and that trip was the turning point toward their solid path to electronic music, and the deciding factor in starting their own party Cabaret in their home town Nagoya. The party has been representing the music between Techno and House for 5 years, and has become an important party in Japan with guest DJs making appearances. It takes place every other month, and their live set is a regular feature. From MTR to hardware synthesizer to MPC2000 and now with Laptops, they have been changing their style of expression, but not their passion for expression.
In 2004, So Inagawa released his own track "Cabaret" on Telegraph Records (France). Then the four released their first track, called "Gender", as The Suffragettes on WC recordings(Japan). Their upcoming releases are from Fenou, and unfoundsound, and there are going to be lots of more to come.
